Another amazing weekend up in NoCal with a really great story to tell. First off, we would like to thank everyone who was involved with the Day on the Meadow Concert in San Jose. Everyone from the Emergency Housing Consortium, Fil from Filco Events and his whole staff, Bosco and Dayna from Channel 104.9-FM and their whole staff, the security people, volunteers, the other bands, THE FANS, and everyone else involved with the event made this show such a great experience for us. Now, it's a long one but a good one, so on to the story...

Another busy weekend! We had the pleasure to share the same stage with the legendary Ike Turner last Friday at Martini Blues. Unfortunately, we were unable to appear at our Saturday show for the Huntington Beach Race for Life. We showed up ready to play only to find out that they were unable to provide the sound system and technician to support all of our instuments and vocals. The rapidly setting sun also brought our attention to the lack of any lighting for the stage. Since they were running behind our timeslot would have fallen in near darkness and put the last band in the pitch dark. So rather than go on with half a sound system in the twilight, we gave our slot to the last band, Southern Crush. We apologize anyone came out to see us. Sunday made up for our disappoinment the night before though. Although we had to get up 3am to make our 7am set in San Diego, we got to share the stage at the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon with a great, fun band called Corporate Whore. We really liked these guys and hope to play shows with them very soon! Special thanks to Amanda for generously sharing her drum kit!

We just got back from some great shows in Sacramento! Thank you to the people of Sacramento for your awesome response! We will be back up north in July!

Thanks to Josh for having us at the UC Davis Picnic Day on Saturday, andto the Brody's for lettingus borrow your equipment. You guys should come down too! It's so nice to travelso far and get support from some great bands who are also really great people! And finally, thanks to Gerald of Stonebridge Productions for having us at theTaste of Fullerton festival on Sunday, and Van of theAnswer for joining us onstage to lend us a hand with his wonderful vocaltalents . Whew! Time for sleep now.

We would like to thank Rosalyn and the Thai Association of Southern California for having us at their New Year festival this year. We had a great time and ate some great food! Also thank you to the boys in A Choired Taste for sharing their equipment with us. We'll see you guys at the Hard Rock this Friday!

Wow! What a great show at a great venue last night! Thank you to everyone who came out to see us! And thank you to the staff at the House of Blues. Everyone from the stage manager (Bruce!) to the security staff to the sound crew was great! Definitely one of the most qualified and professional groups that we have worked with!

Posted 3/30/04 by Whippin' Girl
Sorry for having to postpone this Saturday's show at Borders, but Monica is still recovering from surgery. As much fun as we had this past weekend at the Girlrock Festival, she kind of overdid it and is paying the price for it now. Monica will be sneaking out tonight (against the advice of her doctors) for the House of Blues show, so we'll see you there!

Posted 3/21/04 by Whippin' Girl
Apologies to anyone who came to Friday's scheduled performance at the Hard Rock Cafe Newport Beach expecting to see us play. Monica underwent emergency surgery Wednesday night (nothing life threatening!) and we had to cancel our appearance. We'd like to thank Daryl Smith for taking care of business that night for us, and Yolande & Carl for filling in for us. Monica is on the fast road to recovery in time for the Girl Rock Festival in Palm Springs. If you had pre-purchased tickets for the HRC Newport Beach show, please send us an email.

Michael Jackson is innocent! I support him one billion percent! View the world from the eyes of a cherub and you'll get it. Jackson's soul is pure and naive and I believe he's innocent! Period. We're all wacked out in one way or another, but I do not believe he is a pervert. He is far from it. He's definitely not what you may consider "normal." But he has NO bad intentions and I wish that the greedy and the "holier than thou's" would just leave him alone. The guy is gifted, giving and wouldn't hurt anyone, and is not a sexual predator. Just leave him alone!

In memory... Tony Thompson. On Wednesday November 12th, drummer Tony Thompson lost his battle with cancer. Thompson, who distinguished himself as a top session drummer on numerous '70s and '80s R&B and rock hits, got his start with the R&B group LaBelle. In 1977, he took the drum chair in Chic, which scored the No. 1 R&B hits "Le Freak" and "Good Times." The signature lick from the latter song became a rhythmic linchpin in Grandmaster Flash's groundbreaking 1981 rap single "The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel." Thompson often worked on producer-guitarist Nile Rodgers' sessions. One of the most memorable was for David Bowie's 1983 album "Let's Dance." Thompson also played behind artists as diverse as Madonna (on "Like a Virgin"), Mick Jagger (on the solo album "She's the Boss"), Debbie Harry, Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, Rod Stewart , Jody Watley, Duran Duran and Robert Palmer. In 1985, Thompson teamed up with Palmer and Duran Duran's John and Andy Taylor in the rock unit the Power Station. The group's self-titled album contained two top-10 hits, "Some Like It Hot" and the T. Rex cover "Get It On (Bang a Gong)." Dubbed by many "the loudest drummer ever," Tony's unique and powerful style will live on through the great music he was a part of for years to come. Gone, but not forgotten... We will miss you Tony, rest in peace...

Rest easy, Elliot Smith. We have lost one of our generation's greatest artists this week. Singer/songwriter Elliot Smith has passed due to a self inflicted injury. Smith gained notoriety with his Oscar nominated song "Miss Misery" from the movie "Good Will Hunting," but that was only a taste of his genius. Smith also released several solo albums. Over the years, music has lost too many great artists.  All of us have felt the pain of these losses at some point. For some it was Coletrane, Presley, Lennon, Cobain, Nowel, Garcia, or countless others. For me, it is Smith. No other artist has inspired my music and my life in such a way, and I will miss him deeply. He had the ability to speak from his soul in a song more than most of us can speak from our souls to ourselves. If you are not familiar with his work, I implore you, check it out. His memory should never be forgotten. "Will you miss me, Miss Misery?" I miss you Elliot.  Rest easy.

We apologize that the New Mexico show was cancelled. Unfortunately, the event organizers' plans for the venue fell through and there was no alternative other than to cancel the whole show. We were really looking forward to touring the southwest and were in the process of booking shows in Arizona as well. We are very disappointed that all those plans will have be on hold for now. We hope to go out there in near future!

Hey ya'll, welcome to the new site. "Big Ups" to Dave Yasuda for putting it together. This blows the old site away, (no offense, Rhonda, some people might miss your happy- fun-land color site).I just wanted to say thanks to all of the fans who have given us the support to keep pushing foreward. I'm glad you like the record, we put our souls into it, so it's good to hear. Well, I'm off to the Avocado Festival in Carpinteria to do some shows and some camping. Oh, the glamorous life of a rock star.

How great have our lives become? We had the opportunity to go to the launch party for the 2004 Lingerie Bowl, a Pay Per View event to be shown at halftime during the Super Bowl. The evening was awesome. I got to interview Angie Everhart. I think she is in love with me, but I had to let her know that I am a free wheelin' man who can't be tied down rightnow. She was devastated. Just kidding. We all had ablast, and our interviews are going to be on an episode of E!Entertainment's "Wild On..." show sometime soon. Checkout the photos in the new photo section. See ya'll soon.

Dear Taming Ingrid Fans,
We wanted to apologize to those of you who attempted to come to see our performance this past Sunday, September 14 at Jam Fest at the Hollywood Athletic Club. Unfortunately, the producers of the event overbooked on Sunday and we were the ones pushed out of the line up even though we had a full page ad in LA and OC Weekly announcing our appearance and promoting their event. If you happened to catch our unannounced performance on Saturday, thank you for coming out to see us.

Unfortunately for us and our fans (and actually many of the other bands at the event) the producers of Jam Fest were very unprofessional and completely disorganized. We were originally booked to play on Sunday only, but we were asked at the last minute to fill in an open slot on Saturday and happily obliged. But we realized as soon as we got there that there were going to be problems. We were treated poorly by most of the people who worked there, as we were forced to stand outside on the street, with our equipment baking in the sun, because the producers did not have a plan for loading bands efficiently in and out of the venue. It was even worse on Sunday as we made the trek all the way up to LA from Orange County only to find out that we were taken out of the line up and no one bothered to tell us. We waited for a couple hours for them to figure it out (again outside on the street) but the end result was that we and our fans were the ones who got screwed.

But we and our fans aren't the only ones who lost out because of the incompetency of the producers of Jam Fest. We also feel it is appropriate to apologize to our sponsors at Budweiser who paid for two full-page, full-colors ads in LA and OC Weekly promoting our appearance at the event, as well as giving Jam Fest some free publicity. We ended up not playing on the day that was announced in the ad. They still got the free publicity, all we got was the shaft. Also, possibly losing out is VH-1's Save the Music Foundation. Our sponsors at PRS Guitars had generoulsy provided us with a $2000 guitar to donate to the charity. But since we were to present the donation at our sceduled performance on Sunday, it never happened. Even though we tried to donate it anyway, no one at the event could even get it together enough to provide us with a simple receipt for the donation. We will, however, continue to find a way to provide Save the Music with the donation.

We tried and we're so sorry to those who came out to see us. We hope you didn't pay money to get in. If you did please let us know and maybe we can fix it. We hope never to encounter another situation like this again. We are not sure if any A&R reps from any record labels were there, or if Entertainment Tonight or Access Hollywood were actually covering the event as the producers claim. We didn't see anyone. But to those of you who were there, I'm sure you know the answer to that. Thank you for our fans who tried to come see us. And again, we will do our best to make sure that this will NEVER happen again We will make sure that any future events like this will be well organized and professionally produced before we agree to perform.

Thank you,
TAMING INGRID

I hope this year you will be nominated for a Grammy, if not don't worry you will be by the next. I look forward to you appearing at our club.

Last fall I had the extreme pleasure of seeing Taming Ingrid perform a free Friday concert in Lower Sproul (at UC Berkeley.) It was an amazing experience, and I was sincerely moved. During the concert I could see that you also were pouring all your heart into the performance and it was an incredibly refreshing feeling -- that there are other incredibly passionate people in the world. So, of course, I bought your sampler CD… and it’s fabulous.

When are you coming back to Nor-Cal, specifically, when are you going to play in Sacramento?!

We are working very hard to set up an extended tour. Keep your ears and eyes open for announcements. We will be back up in your area soon!
Thanks for listening! Taming Ingrid

Went to see Bryn play and enjoyed your show immensely. Will
definitely spread the word. BTW have you thought of making a bobble head doll of your bass player? I mean that as a compliment. Totally cool show!

Posted 1/11/04
Hey! I don't usually do this, but I've just heard "Tame This" courtesy of a friend visiting from California, and I HAVE to say that you guys rock! However, I can't find Tame This in any record stores here, not even on imports lists. Could you help by giving me an order reference number or something please?? Meanwhile, keep up the music, and get released in New Zealand already!! Peace.
P.S. I know comparisons are odious, but your style reminded me of a couple of New Zealand bands: Goldenhorse (slightly poppier than you guys but along the melodic vein nonetheless!) and Stellar*. Check them out if you get a chance.

I saw y'all at backyard bar and grill(I think) I thought that y'all were real tight.  I'd like to buy a CD when you get it all done.

I had the opportunity to see the band play on 5/10  at next door b/g for the first time, very radio friendly and was impressed. Ever think about doing a janis joplin cover tune "Bobby Magee"?(with acustic of course/12 string yami w/pickup) Public will definitely be seeing/hearing you on tele/radio full bore within 18 mos.

You guys ROCK!  I had the chance to meet you at the Angel's stadium this morning and had the priviledge of shaking Monica's hand.  You are all awesome and I hope you make it BIG!!

That was a really good show. You guys really need a bigger stage like that. You somehow seemed extra-energized for last night's show.
